Apple B2B, VPP and Custom Apps - What does it mean for developers and companies?

cim2

What does Apple's "Apple Store Volume Purchasing for Business" mean for custom iOS app developers? How can businesses use this feature to purchase iTunes apps in "bulk" for the first time? I'll explore this new program for businesses and what you can expect both as a company using the program, and as a developer. Apple is offering two new services based on their Volume Purchase Program (VPP) mechanism:

  • Volume Purchase of Apps - Companies can find, buy, and distribute apps in bulk, where a block of redeem codes can be provided to individuals to buy the apps via iTunes.
  • Custom B2B Apps – Companies can purchase “Custom B2B Apps” built by third-party developers. The distribution method uses the VPP approach with redeem codes.

For detailed information on the program, see the Note at https://www.apperian.com/technote/apple_vpp_volume_purchase_program_guide (Apple Volume Purchase Program: Information for Companies and Developers).
