Joe Sander joined Arxan as CEO in August 2015 with a track record of scaling growth-oriented companies. Sander’s experience includes a legacy of generating growth for technology and security businesses through direct sales and by building strategic alliances and distribution partnerships. His background includes senior positions leading all aspects of operations, with specific expertise in SaaS delivery models. He served as president and CEO of Harmony Information Systems, a Healthcare IT organization where he developed a strategic roadmap that resulted in a 309% increase in year-over-year bookings. Sander served as president and CEO of a Netherlands-based company, Consul Risk Management. Under his guidance, Consul established itself as a leader in the Forrester “Security Information Management” Wave and was recognized as the Most Innovative Company in Holland by a leading Dutch magazine. Mr. Sander has a track record of success in North America, Europe, South America, and Asia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University.
Charlie Velasquez joined Arxan in May 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. Charlie has over 20 years of senior level finance, administrative and general management experience. After starting his career with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP, Charlie has served as chief financial officer for a variety of private and public companies in technology and enterprise software. Prior to Arxan, Charlie was Chief Financial Officer for CollabNet Inc, an Enterprise Application Lifecycle Management, ALM and Agile Development Software company. At CollabNet, his focus was on increased annual profitability, integration of systems and processes and instilling operational and spending disciplines within the company. In addition to his financial expertise, Charlie also has experience in global sales operations, product management and merger and acquisition transactions. He holds a B.A. in Business from San Francisco State University and is a Certified Public Accountant, CPA.
James previously served as North American Sales VP with Imperva, where he helped accelerate revenue growth over 150%. Prior to that, James has held senior leadership positions at PTC, Red Hat, and IBM. James has over twenty years of domestic and international sales experience. He graduated with honors with an MBA in Finance from Texas A&M University System, BBA from University of North Texas, and has completed post graduate curriculum from Harvard Business Leadership Program. In his spare time, James enjoys coaching his daughter’s basketball teams.
Krish (Krishnakumar) Kalkiraj joined Arxan in August 2018 as SVP of Engineering, bringing over 25 years of experience with enterprise product engineering and research & development. Kalkiraj has a deep technical knowledge on a broad set of enterprise technologies, with a recent focus on security and fraud prevention technology. Before joining Arxan, he served as the VP of Engineering at ThreatMetrix, which was acquired by Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions in early 2018. Kalkiraj has held senior technology and management positions at start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, including PTC and Intuit. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and an International Diploma in Computers.
Mark Lorion joined Arxan in 2016 as part of the acquisition of Apperian, the leading mobile application management and security platform for enterprise apps, and served as its President & General Manager. Mark now leads Arxan’s Product Management, Marketing, and Corporate Development functions. Prior to Apperian, Mark was VP of Marketing at TIBCO Software, leading the marketing organization for the Spotfire Analytics Division following Spotfire’s acquisition by TIBCO. He also held marketing and product leadership positions at PeerDirect and NuSphere (both acquired by Progress Software), iConverse (an early mobile app development platform), and Accenture. He graduated with honors from Syracuse University and earned an M.B.A. with distinction from Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Rusty Carter is a security software executive with over 20 years experience, and the current Vice President of Product Management at Arxan Technologies, an application security company that provides application shielding and protection against reverse-engineering and tampering to the world’s largest companies. Prior to Arxan, Mr. Carter led product management at Symantec, McAfee, and Pulse Secure (formerly Juniper), and was responsible for the introduction and growth of multiple new products and lines of business. Mr. Carter holds international patents in the fields of information security, AI / machine learning, telecommunications, mobile devices, and user interaction. Mr. Carter’s background includes system and software architecture, engineering, and has a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona.
Aaron and the Arxan Advanced Threat Team analyze and catalog the application security threat landscape and drive the breadth and depth of Arxan's application protection. Aaron brings over 15 years of industry and academic experience in information security and cryptography. His expertise is in binary formats, reverse engineering, compilers, linkers, and operating systems. He holds a BS in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and a MS in Computer Science from Purdue University.
Deborah Clark McGinn joined Arxan in October 2017 with over 15 years of experience in enterprise, SMB and consumer marketing. Prior to Arxan, Mrs. McGinn led Global Product Marketing for Neustar’s Security and Risk divisions and Symantec’s Norton Consumer and Small Business Unit. She was responsible for bringing products to market with innovative strategies to break into new categories and markets, including launching the consumer mobile security business for Norton and web application firewall business for Neustar. Mrs. McGinn also formerly led marketing efforts for Callaway Golf Company’s Women and Junior Golf division and started her marketing career at Johnson and Johnson’s Personal Products Company, representing iconic brands such as Band-Aid Brand and Listerine. She holds an MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Chad McDonald, VP of Customer Experience, joined Arxan in January 2017. Chad brings more than 20 years experience building and managing information security programs, including more than eight years as the first chief information security officer (CISO) at Georgia College & State University. Chad is responsible for the success of Arxan customers, overseeing account management, support, professional services, information security and compliance. Prior to Arxan, Chad was executive director of the Office of the CISO at Optiv where he defined the security strategy for a $70 billion dollar merger between two technology giants. As director of professional services at Imperva Chad helped grow the services revenue by 400% during his tenure. Chad holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Southern Polytechnic State University, as well as multiple certifications including CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) and PMP (Project Management Professional).
Mike Kelley joined Arxan in 2007. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s FP&A, legal and sales operations activities. Throughout his tenure at Arxan, he has been an integral part of the company’s milestone events, including key financing and investing activities, customer acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Prior to Arxan, Kelley held various accounting and finance positions at Broadsoft Inc. and Costar Group, Inc. He holds an MBA from Loyola University and a bachelor’s degree from Frostburg St. University.
Andrew Whaley joined Arxan in 2016 as VP of Engineering, bringing over 25 years of experience in innovative development from industry leaders such as Oracle, Accenture and Barclays. Prior to joining Arxan, Andrew led the research and development into financial security topics such as secure mobile application delivery, cryptography and blockchain at Barclays and holds several patents in those fields. Since joining, Andrew has established and led our European engineering capability which has successfully delivered 3 of our market leading products in that time. He holds a bachelors degree in Applied Computing from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Rob Friedman joined Arxan in 2016 through the acquisition of Apperian, where he ran the engineering team. Rob has over 30 years experience leading software development teams, with a recent focus in mobile and Software-as-a-Service. Prior to Apperian, he held management positions in various software startups, including Groove Mobile, Vlingo, and EveryScape. Rob holds degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
Jessie Angulo joined Arxan in 2015 to establish the Human Resources function and now leads global people operations. Jessie’s more than two decades of experience include HR leadership roles in media, technology, consulting and nonprofit organizations. Prior to Arxan, she managed HR service delivery for National Geographic Channels International and was part of the HR strategy team for Fox International Channels. Jessie also established and managed the HR function at cloud computing service company Virtustream and the Washington Humane Society. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.

Alex Gounares is the founder and CEO of Polyverse Corporation, the leading provider of moving target defense based cybersecurity solutions. Previously, Alex led Concurix Corporation and served as AOL's Chief Technology Officer. Alex joined AOL from Microsoft, where he was Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for the company's Online Services Division. During his tenure at Microsoft, Gounares led significant strategic and technical operations for some of the company's most important projects including Microsoft's global advertising platform, Bing search, MSN and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Alex also served for three years as Technology Advisor to Microsoft Chairman and founder Bill Gates. Prior to joining Microsoft in 1993, Alex worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has founded four start-ups and is also an inventor on more than 200 patents filed and pending. Alex holds a bachelor's degree cum laude in Computer Science from Princeton University.
Tom Heiser is an advisor to TA Associates and was most recently EMC’s Executive Vice President leading Cloud Strategy and Execution with revenues of $23.2 billion in 2013. Heiser worked closely with the company’s executive leadership to evaluate the rapidly evolving Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) market segments. Previously Tom was the President of RSA, The Security Division of EMC, where he oversaw RSA’s business operations, worldwide sales and services, channel strategy, product development, marketing, strategic business and financial initiatives, IT, and technical support. Over his 30 year tenure at EMC, Tom’s executive leadership ranged from critical responsibilities in corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, and positioning EMC for emerging market segments. Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting information systems from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Tom joined NetApp in 1994 and was responsible for sales until becoming president in 2000. In 2009 he became vice chairman.Tom has given talks on the power of corporate culture and leadership all over the world to people in such diverse organizations as the U.S. Marine Corps, West Point, CIO forums, Oracle’s Leaders Circle, and Stanford University. In 2009 he was the corecipient with NetApp Chairman Dan Warmenhoven of the Morgan Stanley Leadership Award for Global Commerce. Tom holds a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame and is an alumnus of Stanford University’s Executive Business Program. In September 2000 Notre Dame renamed its business school the Mendoza College of Business after an endowment made by Tom and Kathy Mendoza.

Ken is co-head of TA Associates North America Technology Group and focuses on investments in software, infrastructure and financial technology companies. He serves on the Board of Directors of Arxan Technologies, Insurity, RGM Advisors and TierPoint; and led TA’s investment in BATS Global Markets. Ken formerly served on the Boards of Cosentry, CyOptics, Datek Online Holdings, Fractal Analytics, FTP Software, ION Investment Group, MetroPCS Communications, NetScout Systems and The Island ECN. Prior to joining TA in 1988, he was a member of the technical staff of AT&T Bell Laboratories, as a Systems Engineer in the switching systems area. Ken received a BS degree, summa cum laude, in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Duke University, an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an SM degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
