Apperian Announces New Product Enhancements That Increase Enterprise Mobile App Security Without Compromising Usability
New Capabilities Utilize Single Sign-On with Touch ID, OAuth, and Advanced Password Controls to Provide Highest Level of Mobile Data Protection Without Compromising End User ExperienceBOSTON – June 27, 2017 – Apperian, an Arxan company and provider of mobile application management (MAM®) and security solutions, today announced several platform enhancements, which increase the security of enterprise mobile app data, without compromising usability. These updates take advantage of native device capabilities, multiple industry protocols and additional password controls, to provide a seamless solution for distributing secure mobile apps to internal employees and external contracted workers, partners, distributors and agents. "As we continue to build out TD Bank's employee mobile app ecosystem, it is extremely important we marry convenient access with the assurance that TD’s data remains secure” said Kevin Faragher, AVP Mobile for Everyone at TD Bank. “We are looking forward to enabling Touch ID as a way to login to the Apperian App Catalog, as this is a great example of balancing employee experience with security." Apperian provides a security layer that protects a critical endpoint – corporate mobile apps and data. Mobile administrators can easily apply security policies to any mobile app via the mobile app management console, no SDK or code modifications required. This approach to security enables enterprises to safely distribute apps to all mobile workers without requiring their mobile devices be enrolled in a mobile device management solution. “While enterprises must maintain their security posture in order to minimize risk and protect corporate assets and data against mobile threats, it should not be at the expense of the user’s experience,” said Mark Lorion, President & General Manager for Apperian. “These enhancements ensure mobile administrators can enlist the highest level of data protection, while still keeping the end user experience seamless, increasing app adoption rates and driving productivity gains. ” Key Updates to the Apperian Platform
- Support of Single Sign-On (SSO) with Touch ID Apperian now supports Touch ID Authentication on iOS devices. When this option is enabled, any user who has Touch ID configured on their device is able to authenticate with Touch ID rather than manually entering a password when logging in to the iOS App Catalog, or any iOS apps that use policies that require authentication (for example, Enterprise SSO or Self Updating App).
- Support for OAuth authentication protocol Apperian now supports the OAuth authentication protocol so that customers can leverage their existing identity infrastructure. This enables enrolled users to access mobile apps in a way that is compliant with the necessary level of security without requiring that they create secret identity attributes in the Apperian platform.
- Advanced password restrictions / security controls Apperian now supports advanced password complexity requirements that provide administrators with granular controls around password expiration time, password history to enforce the use of unique passwords and the number of failed attempts that cause an account lockout.
